STANDARDIZED TESTING
State guidelines require that all students in grades 3-10 participate in standardized testing each school year. This year we will be using a new assessment called the NWEA Measures of Academic Progress – MAP Growth. It will be administered to all students online using a computer; desktop, laptop or tablet ONLY.
Wednesday, April 14th – Friday, April 16th, morning classes will not be held in order for students to take the standardized testing. Regular classes will resume at 12:00 pm.
Beginning at 8:45 am, all students in school will be taking their standardized test.
Beginning at 10:45 am, students at home will take their standardized test.
Instruction for students testing from home ONLY:
1. First, log-in to the Zoom link (in blue) assigned to you (see lists below).
2. Then, to access your test – click on the yellow and red testing link below.
3. Enter the Testing Session Name assigned to you (see below) and your test proctor will provide the PIN to log-in to your test.

WE SPENT FIRST MARKING PERIOD STUDYING CHAPTER 1, HOW GEOGRAPHERS LOOK AT THE WORLD, IN OUR TEXTBOOK. WE LEARNED ABOUT THE GEOGRAPHER AND THE CARTOGRAPHER. WE ALSO ENHANCED OUR MAP SKILLS AND OUR GRAPHING SKILLS.
THEN, WE STUDIED CHAPTER 2, LOOKING AT THE EARTH, IN OUR TEXTBOOK. WE LEARNED ABOUT THE NATURE AND STRUCTURE OF THE EARTH AND THE FORCES THAT AFFECT THE SURFACE OF THE EARTH , THE SETTING FOR HUMAN LIFE.
WE STUDIED CHAPTER 3, CLIMATES OF THE EARTH. WE LEARNED WHY CLIMATE IS A SIGNIFICANT FACTOR IN DESCRIBING THE GEOGRAPHY OF PLACES ON THE EARTH.
WE FINISHED CHAPTER 3, SECTION 1, EARTH-SUN RELATIONSHIPS AND SECTION 2, FACTORS AFFECTING CLIMATE. WE ALSO FINISHED SECTION 3, WORLD CLIMATE PATTERNS.
NEXT, WE FINISHED CHAPTER 4, ENVIRONMENTS, PEOPLES, AND CULTURES, IN OUR TEXTBOOK. IN THIS CHAPTER WE STUDIED WHY HUMANS AND THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT HAVE AN EFFECT ON EACH OTHER.
WE TOOK THE CHAPTER 4 TEST, AND WE BEGAN UNIT 2, THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA. WE FINISHED CHAPTER 5, THE PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY OF THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA, AND WE CLOSED THE FIRST SEMESTER WITH CHAPTER 6,THE CULTURAL GEOGRAPHY OF THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA.
WE BEGAN THE SECOND SEMESTER WITH CHAPTER 7, THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA TODAY. WE LEARNED ABOUT THE EFFECTS OF AGRICULTURE AND INDUSTRY ON THE ECONOMIES OF THE TWO COUNTRIES, HOW SURPLUS LEADS TO TRADE, AND WHAT METHODS OF TRANSPORTATION AND COMMUNICATION ARE MOST IMPORTANT TO THE TWO NEIGHBORS.
NEXT, WE MOVED TO THE STUDY OF LATIN AMERICA. WE FIRST LOOKED AT CHAPTER 8, THE PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY OF LATIN AMERICA. THEN, IN CHAPTER 9, WE MOVED INTO THE CULTURAL GEOGRAPHY OF LATIN AMERICA.
WE NEXT BEGAN THE 5TH MARKING PERIOD WITH A “CLEAN SLATE” AND A REVIEW OF CHAPTERS 8 AND 9. NOW, WE MOVE INTO CHAPTER 10 LATIN AMERICA TODAY.
WE FINISHED CHAPTER 10 QUICKLY AND JUST BEFORE SPRING BREAK, WE HAD A TEST ON OUR LAST THREE CHAPTERS, CHAPTERS 8, 9, AND 10, WHICH IS OUR UNIT ON LATIN AMERICA. WE ARE NOW IN EUROPE WITH CHAPTER 11.

FIRST, TAKE THE TIME TO START REVIEWING CHAPTER 11, PAGES 212 THROUGH 237, FOR OUR EXAM NEXT WEEK. THEN, ON PAGE 237, UNDER LOCATING PLACES, REVIEW SOME EUROPEAN PLACES BY WRITING A COMPLETE SENTENCE FOR EACH OF THE 10 LOCATIONS. IN THE SENTENCE, SHOW BY THE CONTEXT THAT YOU KNOW WHERE THIS PLACE IS IN EUROPE.
BE SURE THAT YOUR PAPER HAS A COMPLETE FLP HEADING.
ECONOMICS ASSIGNMENT FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 16, 2021
FIRST SEMESTER, THIS YEAR, IN THE GOVERNMENT COURSE, WE COMPLETED CHAPTER 1 IN THE TEXTBOOK, BEGINNINGS OF AMERICAN GOVERNMENT, AND AS PART OF OUR SOCIAL STUDIES EXPERIENCE, WE ALSO ENHANCED OUR MAP SKILLS.
OUR GROUPS, THE SENATE AND THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, THEN COMPLETED CHAPTER 2, CREATION OF AMERICAN GOVERNMENT, IN OUR TEXTBOOK. IN THAT CHAPTER, WE LEARNED THAT AFTER THE AMERICANS DEFEATED THE BRITISH IN THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR, THEY HAD ANOTHER BIG CHALLENGE. HOW WOULD THE COUNTRY BE GOVERNED? CHAPTER 2 DISCUSSED THE CREATION OF THE CONSTITUTION.
WE NEXT CAREFULLY STUDIED CHAPTER 3, A LOOK AT THE CONSTITUTION. IN THIS CHAPTER, WE LEARNED ABOUT THE INDIVIDUAL PARTS OF THE CONSTITUTION. WE COMPLETED THE CHAPTER AND THE CHAPTER REVIEW.
WE HAVE FINISHED CHAPTER 4, THE LEGISLATIVE BRANCH. WE LOOKED DEEP INTO THE BRANCH OF GOVERNMENT THAT THE FOUNDING FATHERS THOUGHT WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT BRANCH OF THE GOVERNMENT.
IN CHAPTER 5, THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH, WE LOOKED AT EVERYTHING CONNECTED TO THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT. WITH A NEW PRESIDENT TAKING OFFICE IN JANUARY, THIS WAS THE PERFECT TIME IN OUR HISTORY TO LOOK AT THE PRESIDENCY.
JUST BEFORE OUR WINTER VACATION, WE TOOK THE OBJECTIVE TEST FOR CHAPTERS 4 AND 5. THEN, WE STUDIED CHAPTER 6, THE PRESIDENT’S CABINET AND CHAPTER 8, THE JUDICIAL BRANCH.
DURING SECOND SEMESTER, THE COURSE IS ECONOMICS. THE STUDY OF ECONOMICS WILL HELP US TO BECOME BETTER DECISION MAKERS. IT WILL HELP DEVELOP A WAY OF THINKING TO MAKE THE BEST POSSIBLE CHOICES FOR OURSELVES.
DURING MARKING PERIOD 4, WE TACKLED THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF ECONOMICS CLASS, THE FIRST CHAPTER. WE WERE INTRODUCED TO THE BOOK AND THE TERMINOLOGY THAT WE WILL WORK WITH DURING THIS SHORT COURSE.
WE BEGAN THE 5TH MARKING PERIOD IN CHAPTER 2 IN OUR TEXTBOOKS AND HAD A TEST ON CHAPTER 2 JUST BEFORE SPRING BREAK.
WE ARE NOW WORKING ON THE PAMPHLET, ONCE UPON A DIME AND IN THE TEXTBOOK ON CHAPTER 3, BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONS.
