WORLD GEOGRAPHY ASSIGNMENT FOR SEPTEMBER 4, 2020  (REMINDER:  THERE ARE NO CLASSES ON MONDAY.  ASSIGNMENTS ARE DUE BEFORE CLASS ON TUESDAY. )

THE FIRST ASSIGNMENT IS TO WRITE A PARAGRAPH DISCUSSING THE PURPOSE AND HISTORY OF MONDAY’S NATIONAL HOLIDAY, LABOR DAY.  NATIONAL HOLIDAYS ARE FEW AND FAR BETWEEN IN THE UNITED STATES.  WHY IS MONDAY SO IMPORTANT TO US AS A NATION?  YOU MAY TYPE OR HANDWRITE THIS PARAGRAPH.

THE NEXT ASSIGNMENT TAKES US BACK TO THE TEXTBOOK FOR SOME MAP SKILLS.

DID YOU KNOW?  NATIONAL BOUNDARIES RUN TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH AND TO THE TOP OF THE ATMOSPHERE.  AIRPLANES NEED A COUNTRY’S PERMISSION TO FLY INTO ITS AIR SPACE.  IN 1986, FRENCH OFFICIALS REFUSED TO LET AMERICAN BOMBERS FLY OVER FRANCE ON THEIR WAY TO BOMB LIBYA.  WE WILL BE LOOKING AT BOUNDARIES AS PART OF OUR ASSIGNMENT ON MAP SKILLS.  IN YOUR GREEN TEXTBOOK, READ PAGES 14 THROUGH 22.  THEN, ANSWER IN COMPLETE SENTENCES IN YOUR BLUE SPIRAL SOCIAL STUDIES NOTEBOOK, PAGE 15, MAP SKILLS REVIEW, #’S 1-5;  PAGE 19, MAP SKILLS REVIEW, #’S 1-6;  PAGE 22, MAP SKILLS REVIEW, #’S 1-5.

BE SURE TO HAVE A COMPLETE HEADING ON ALL ASSIGNMENTS.

GOVERNMENT ASSIGNMENT FOR SEPTEMBER 4, 2020

MONDAY IS A NATIONAL HOLIDAY, LABOR DAY.  NATIONAL HOLIDAYS ARE RARE IN THE UNITED STATES, SO MONDAY MUST BE SOMETHING SPECIAL.  FOR YOUR FIRST ASSIGNMENT,  WRITE A PARAGRAPH (EITHER TYPED OR IN YOUR SPIRAL) ABOUT THE HISTORY AND PURPOSE OF THIS SPECIAL DAY.

THEN, WE GO BACK TO CHAPTER 1 IN YOUR TEXTBOOK.  DUE TO THE UNEXPECTED LARGE NUMBERS OF YOU IN THE CLASS, SOME OF YOU HAVE A PACKET HANDOUT OF THE FIRST TWO CHAPTERS IN THE TEXTBOOK.  WE ARE LEARNING ABOUT THE HISTORY AND THE BEGINNINGS OF OUR AMERICAN GOVERNMENT.  YOU NEED TO READ THROUGH CHAPTER 1, LESSON 5.   NEXT, IN YOUR HANDOUT, UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT, STUDENT WORKBOOK, COMPLETE WORKBOOK ACTIVITY 3, ENGLISH HISTORY (MATCHING) AND WORKBOOK ACTIVITY 5, AMERICAN GOVERNMENT CROSSWORD PUZZLE.

BE SURE TO PUT A COMPLETE HEADING ON THE TOP OF BOTH WORKBOOK PAGES AND THE NATIONAL HOLIDAY PARAGRAPH.  FOR TUESDAY AND THE REST OF THE SEMESTER, YOU WILL BE DIVIDED INTO 2 GROUPS, EACH OF THE GROUPS WILL HAVE A DIFFERENT HOMEWORK.  ALL OF THIS WILL BE LISTED ON TUESDAY’S ASSIGNMENT SITE.
