2. We learn about Wes’s South African family on pages 166-168.  What are some of the values Wes and his new family seem to share.
3.  After living in South Africa, Wes reflects, ‘ Here, burgeoning manhood was guided and celebrated through a rite of passage.  At home, burgeoning was a trigger for apprehension.” What does this quotation mean? Do you agree or disagree with Wes? Support your response.
