If you have not already done so, log into Khan Academy with the class code below or create a new account with Khan Academy where it says Join Khan Academy Group A:

Press “Create a new account”. Enter your date of birth, then sign up using your school email

Enter your grade and course. Now you’re ready to start learning!

B. Lesson – Mistakes are Opportunities (NEW)

In Khan Academy complete the lesson Mistakes are Opportunities, then your reflection.

C. Self Reflection:

    1. Write about a time when you tried your best and still made mistakes. How did you react?
    2. Why can mistakes be detrimental to our learning and our brain growth?
    3. Is there an example in your life or someone else’s life of a time mistakes prevented you or the other person from doing something great? Describe the situation.
    4. What are some mistakes you have made in the last few weeks? Categorize them into slow-down opportunities, review opportunities, and feedback opportunities.
    5. What should you do next time you make a mistake?

C. Self Reflection (write in complete sentences)

Next time you do an activity that frustrates you, use the strategies you learned to make a plan for overcoming your frustration.

Complete the four steps below to create your plan. Use the examples provided by Thinky Pinky as ideas for your plan!

Step 1: Remember frustration is okay!

  • What will you say to yourself to remember getting frustrated is ok and part of learning?

Step 2: Remind yourself frustration can be good.

  • Write a sentence you can use to remind yourself that frustration can be a good sign.

Step 3: Take a Break

Step 4: Ask for Help

  • Who will you ask for help when you get stuck?

Now you have your own plan, just like Thinky Pinky. When you get frustrated, look at your plan and follow the steps so you can keep going and keep growing.
