Complete the Laboratory Report for the lab demo done in class.

Title:  Modeling Groundwater

Objective:  To describe the flow and storage of groundwater.

Materials:

• bowl or bucket
• small gravel
• paper or Styrofoam cup, at least 8 oz. 
• pencil
• water

Procedure

1. Fill the cup with gravel.
2. Fill the cup with water.  Notice how the water moves between the pieces of gravel.
3. Put the cop into a bowl or hold it firmly over a bucket.
4. While holding the cup firmly, use the pencil to carefully poke a hole in the cup about 1/3 of the way down from the top of the cup.  Wate happens? ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
5. Use the pencil to poke another hole in the cup, this time 2/3 of the way down from the top. What happens this time?  ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Use your observations and the notes you took in class to answer the following analysis question:

3. How does this activity model the flow of groundwater?
